Cathy and Ariel are from different social classes. Cathy chooses to leave her rich father to be with Ariel. When Cathy learns that she is dying of cancer, she does not tell Ariel but lets him continue to think she is pregnant. Cathy even asks Ariel's classmate, Eileen to continue to love Ariel when she is gone. When Ariel finds out the truth, he goes to Cathy's father to beg him to save her. Cathy's father agrees if Ariel will leave her. Ariel agrees at first, then changes his mind. Cathy dies in his arms and though he continues to love her, Ariel goes on with his life.
