And I Love You So earned second place in the Philippines during its opening weekend (August 12, 2009 - August 16, 2009) after G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. The movie earned ₱20,470,000 (or $424,470) in revenue.[1] During its second week, the movie stayed in the Top 5 movies of that weekend holding spot Number 3 behind Disney's Up and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, respectively. It earned ₱10,596,134. As of its first two weeks in Philippine theatres, it garnered a gross revenue of ₱36,329,604.[2] As of January 2010, the film has grossed ₱89, 300,000 in revenue.[3][4] The film received generally favorable reviews.
In My Life received a generally favorable outcome both financially and through reviews. Many people praised the storyline, meaning, and acting of Vilma Santos, John Lloyd Cruz, and Luis Manzano. This film was a daring act by John Lloyd Cruz and Luis Manzano both portraying gay characters, and yet they did not disappoint the audience.
The film garnered nearly ₱20,000,000 on its first day of release, and nearly ₱80,000,000 on its opening weekend. This was a remarkable start of the movie for the outcome was never expected to be that high.[3]
By the end of 2009, In My Life placed second on the Top 13 local 2009 Philippine movies list just behind You Changed My Life which also stars John Lloyd Cruz.[citation needed] As of January 2010, its box-office gross has reached ₱137,400,000.[4] It can be noted that another reason for the success of the movie is the partnership of Vilma Santos and John Lloyd Cruz; both highly acclaimed Filipino actors and box office champions.The film is in 13th place for the list of top grossing filipino films of all time. Vilma's 2000 top grosser film Anak was no. 7 on that list with almost 160 million gross.
